Thank you so much for your Independence Day pictures. The combination of July 4th decorations and historical homes is perfection! I love your idea of a permanent fire pit. And, even though we do have raised beds, I really like your reasoning for not having them - hope you will post some pictures of your garden as the summer progresses. Your blueberry pie looked wonderful - I do love Tasha Tudor's recipes - have you tried hers for Pineapple Upside Down Cake? Your tradition of freezing pie cherries for the winter celebration of Washington's Birthday is so nice - I love traditions! I have some cherries in our freezer and may just join you next year in making a pie in February. So glad you are feeling better. Praying for you and your family. - Esther in NJ Thank you, Esther! Your words are always so appreciated!

I love that her recipe for Pineapple Upside Down Cake uses a "heavy iron frying pan". There is just something so satisfying in putting one of our iron frying pans in the oven! Of course, the trick is turning it over onto a platter when it's done - but the taste is wonderful. It's in "The Tasha Tudor Cookbook - Recipes and Reminiscences from Corgi Cottage" - every now and then I just take it off the shelf to read and enjoy the her art work. So cozy!
Delete Thanks! I haven't made a pineapple upside down cake for...for...decades! It's long overdue!
